Nonprofit health system PeaceHealth is the largest employer in Lane County, and is moving 94 positions to Vancouver over the next few years.

The employees will have the option to keep their jobs if they relocate to Vancouver.

If they stay, they might be able to retrain for a related position within PeaceHealth, if there are local openings. Or, they could be eligible for a severance package tied to their years of service with PeaceHealth.

It’s an agonizing time for PeaceHealth employees who work in departments that eventually will be largely consolidated in Vancouver. In meetings Monday, hundreds of employees learned that their departments will be affected, but they don’t know yet whether — or when — their particular job will move.

PeaceHealth said it will give employees at least six months’ notice and that most of the jobs will move from 2012 to 2014.
