Hillsboro-based TriQuint Semiconductor talked with two potential suitors before agreeing to merge with rival RF Micro Devices.

Monday’s filing gives a play-by-play of the two companies’ secret courtship, which began in February 2013 at the Mobile World Congress in Spain – the same place where the companies announced their deal a year later.

It also shows that TriQuint was in serious talks with one other unidentified bidder, and entertained overtures from another, before settling on RFMD.

But the filings don’t say how the two companies decided that RFMD’s chief executive would run the combined company (TriQuint’s CEO will be chairman), or give any indication of how the combined business – still unnamed – will decide whether to continue operating TriQuint’s Hillsboro factory, or whether to close a similar RFMD facility in North Carolina.
