Oregonians have higher-than-average tax burden


Oregonians paid 10.1% of their income to the state, putting Oregon’s tax burden at 16th in the nation.

Oregonians paid 10.1% of their income to the state, putting Oregon’s tax burden at 16th in the nation.

Americans paid 9.8 percent of their income in state and local taxes in 2011 (the last year data was available). 

New York residents had the highest overall tax burden at 12.6, percent while residents of Wyoming had the lowest rate at 6.9 percent.
