Once below the national rate, Oregon now found itself in the top half of states for severely-burdened households.
Among what it considers working households — with at least one 20-hour-a-week worker making 120 percent or less of the median family income — about 147,000 families in Oregon are considered “severely burdened” by housing costs. That’s roughly 26 percent of such households in the state, up from 23 percent in 2008 and 2009.
