One in seven Oregonians lived in poverty in 2010 and 2011, Census Bureau data shows.

“But the reality is, it just proves that the economy remains recovering – and weak,” he said.

The share of people in the state living at or below the federal poverty level hovered at 14.3 percent in 2010 and 2011, up 2.4 percent from 2008 and 2009. About 544,000 Oregonians remain in poverty, according to Census estimates.
