Tech leader Ed Grady was named CEO of Electro Scientific Industries.

It’s been a rocky transition. ESI forecasts a 15 percent decline in sales during its current fiscal year, the second straight year revenue has fallen that steeply. Just before the company replaced Konidaris, ESI sharply cut its financial outlook for the current quarter.

ESI has 630 employees worldwide, including more than 250 at its headquarters north of Beaverton along Highway 26. They’re learning to build a different kind of company, said Grady, 66, who served on ESI’s board for nearly six years before his colleagues tapped him for the CEO job.
