The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded the Portland Fire and Rescue Bureau a $4.5 million grant to maintain 26 firefighter jobs.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency awarded the Portland Fire and Rescue Bureau a $4.5 million grant to maintain 26 firefighter jobs.

It’s intended to support firefighter positions for two years.

The jobs had been slated for elimination in the city’s latest budget. Two fire and rescue stations were slated to shut down, too.
