Fifteen of Portland’s tech startups issued a letter backing marriage equality in Oregon.

“It’s very much in the spirit with which we operate our business. It seems to be fair. It’s not very complicated,” said Josh Reich, chief executive of Portland startup Simple Finance Technology Corp., which offers online and mobile banking services. The company, which operates under the name Simple, just crossed 75,000 customers.

The executives who signed today’s letter said that they offer health benefits to employees’ domestic partners in addition to spouses, “because supporting all of our employees’ families in health and wellness is important to us.” They wrote that they believe that attracting a diverse work force to Oregon is important to helping their companies grow.
