Limits on the energy tax credit’s dollar amounts or on the number of projects subsidized by the tax credit will likely be on the table when legislators regroup for their February session.
The credit has helped support alternative-energy businesses, but it has also been criticized for out-of-control costs.
For “mature” markets such as wind power, the tax credit would be phased out over five years.
For other projects exceeding $100,000, the credit would be capped at 5 percent of the cost with a cap of $200 million. Projects of less than $100,000 would still be eligible for a 50 percent credit.
