This year as the holidays approach, stretched budgets and lower donations are causing problems for some Portland nonprofits.

Community Warehouse on Northeast Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard is the only nonprofit furniture bank in the region.

Meloy said they receive around 60 requests a week. But recently, donations have slowed. The warehouse was nearly empty last week. Meloy said they were in need of basic items like silverware.
