Coast leaders call for state aid

On a recent tour, state legislators heard plans for expanding Astoria’s port capabilities, and discussed dredging and Warrenton’s levee system.

State Sen. Betsy Johnson, D-Scappoose, and Rep. Deborah Boone, D-Cannon Beach, were joined by Karmen Fore, a policy adviser on transportation to Gov. John Kitzhaber. The trio were met by local elected officials and others seeking to illustrate the importance of current projects and the need in some cases for intervention with the federal government.
