Tonkon Torp LLP is pleased to welcome attorneys Dallas Thomsen as a partner in its Business Department, and Rachel Melissa as a business attorney in its Environmental & Natural Resources and Information Privacy & Securitygroups.
Dallas Thomsen has over 20 years’ experience in law, with a practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, tax law (including for partnerships and corporations), estate planning, and administration. He has additional experience in intellectual property, securities, and probate matters. With master’s degree in taxation, Thomsen specializes in offering clients in-depth tax analysis, evaluation, and planning. Thomsen joins Tonkon Torp from Snell & Wilmer and he previously worked at Sussman Shank LLP for nearly 15 years.

Rachel Melissa assists industrial and agricultural clients in matters relating to contaminated site cleanup, source control, and liability considerations. Her work has focused on the federally-managed Portland Harbor Superfund Site and other state-managed cleanup projects. “Rachel’s extensive experience will be a huge asset to Tonkon’s environmental practice group,” said Jeanette Schuster, Environmental & Natural Resources Chair. “We are excited that she will take the lead in supporting our clients’ compliance with Oregon’s new Recycling Modernization Act.”

Melissa also has broad experience with data privacy law, advising businesses on compliance with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and the many analogous state privacy laws coming into effect across the country.

Melissa joined Tonkon Torp after nearly five years as Senior Counsel at Melissa Data Corporation. Her experience also includes over a decade with Pearl Legal Group PC, a boutique environmental firm in Portland.
