Good times: Employment ads on the increase

Since early 2003, employment ads at Oregon newspapers, despite seasonal shifts, have been building steam. The drop in the unemployment rate from above 8% to below 6% during the period could be both a symptom of hiring activity and a hindrance to filling jobs.

The share of Oregon’s workers who are covered by unions declined in 2005, dropping from 15.2% in 2004 to 14.5% last year.
