Verizon’s venture capital arm invested $800,000 in Portland startup MobileRQ.

MobileRQ’s tools aim to connect travelers to travel and hospitality companies by sending information to customers’ smartphones and tablets. Founded in January 2012, the five-person company formally launched its technology two months ago.

The company said an airline could use its technology to offer them seat upgrades as they arrive at the airport, or hotels could use it to offer deals on rooms to travelers whose flights have been delayed.
