Compost increased the speeds of its low-cost Internet service for low-income families.
The Internet Essentials program, now in its third year, provides Internet access for about $10 a month — roughly a fifth of the regular price.
The discounts are available to families whose children qualify for free or reduced-price school lunches. A family of four qualifies with annual income at or below $43,568.
The company said 220,000 families are participating in the program nationwide, including 6,300 in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
