Oregon is one of 18 states in the Home Rescue Program that helps homeowners by covering up to a year of mortgage payments.

“The main criteria we’re looking for is a loss of income. They have to be able to demonstrate a 10 percent loss of income in comparison to 2011 or 2012,” explained Jorge Fernando Guzman with Multnomah County.

For those who do qualify, their mortgage could be paid for up to a year or up to $20,000, with an additional $10,000 to bring their mortgage up to date.
