Vancouver-based PeaceHealth is cutting 500 jobs, mostly in Southwest Washington, as a service contract with Kaiser Permanente ends.

PeaceHealth, a nonprofit Catholic healthcare provider, operates in three states, including Oregon, and employs about 16,000. Executives said the cuts — which include letting jobs go unfilled — would target administrative and support positions.

Kaiser had contracted with PeaceHealth for non-emergency services for more than a decade, but that will soon change. Kaiser will move Clark County members from PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver to a different provider starting in October.
