Portland home prices rose 12.5% in May from a year ago, and 2.2% from April. Prices rose 12.2% year-over-year nationwide, the largest annual increase since March 2006.

Portland still has a way to go. Prices here remain 17.3 percent below their 2007 peak. Home prices have improved on stronger sales and a slim inventory of homes for sale.
