The Portland Incubator Experiment named seven companies to its third class.

Founded in 2009 with the ad agency Wieden+Kennedy, PIE provides a $20,000 investment, workspace behind the firm’s offices in the Pearl District, and interaction with 200 mentors over a three-month incubation period.

PIE attracted 440 applicants for its latest class, with 60 percent of the applications from outside Oregon. Only two members of the latest class are from outside the Portland area, though, and just one comes from outside the state.
