It will open at 7 a.m., an hour before typical suburban stores.
The smaller format, which Target first tested a year ago, tends to feel more like a downtown department store with mannequins (yep, they don’t usually have them in the big stores), as well as larger and more lit-up beauty sections. Target, which counts 200 part- and full-time employees at the store between Southwest Morrison and Alder streets, operates more than a dozen other stores in the Portland area in the more typical 135,000-square-foot size.
