After being hit hard by the recession, Eugene-based Johnson Crushers is moving into new international markets.

JCI’s business dropped 60 percent from 2008 to 2009. The company had to let go of 100 people — a third of its work force — between 2007 and 2009.

It is those new markets, rather than JCI’s traditional base of customers — builders of homes, offices, stores and highways in the United States — that will drive growth in the coming years, Elliott predicts. Over the next five years, he projects growth of 15 percent a year and anticipates adding 100 employees to JCI’s 300-person work force.
