Taking into account all Oregon state revenue, the government will spend $59.8 billion in the next two years, a 4.6% increase from the last budget cycle.

But a much more impressive increase can be found in the state’s general fund, which makes up the bulk of spending on public schools, prisons, parks and other state programs.

Under the most recent projections, the 2013-15 general fund budget — including lottery revenue — will hit $16.7 billion, according to a report released today by the Legislative Fiscal Office. That’s a $2 billion increase from 2011-13, or 13.6 percent.

It’s the biggest two-year increase since the state got walloped by the global recession back in 2007.
