Mozilla plans to expand its Portland office and move into its own space.
Silicon Valley-based Mozilla currently employs 26 at co-working space Collective Agency.
“We were just looking to find the talent,” said Mozilla chief financial officer Jim Cook. “We found a lot of open source talent in Portland right away.”
Mozilla said it plans to expand its Portland work force to about 40, working on web development, Firefox and a new smartphone operating system, Firefox OS. Cook said that more than a third of its new, 8,500-square-foot space at N.W. 11th and Couch St. will be available to Portland’s community of open source software developers for hackathons and other collaborative events.
