Firefighters are fighting a 0% contained wildfire in Eastern Oregon near Lake Owhyee that they hope to contain by July 6.

Running through rangeland in steep and rocky terrain, the Owhyee fire west of Adrian has scorched 30,000 acres. Carol Connolly, spokeswoman for the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center in Portland, said a top level management team took control of the fire Wednesday morning and that more firefighters will arrive today, bolstering the 240 people already on site.

The outlook could depend on the weather. Though temperatures are expected to fall over the next few days, red flag warnings are in effect for Eastern Oregon.
