Precision Castparts is acquiring aerospace manufacturing company Permaswage for $600 million.

Precision, a Portland-based multinational making airplane parts and other complex metals components, said in a news release that the purchase would extend its reach into manufacturing fittings used in fluid conveyance systems for commercial aircraft.

Permaswage, based in Gardena, Calif., employs about 680 and operates factories in California, France and China. The company has particular expertise in swaged fittings, which permanently connect two tubes.
