Northwest Community Credit Union plans to build a new headquarters in downtown Eugene.

At 67,000 square feet, the new headquarters — which CEO John Iglesias prefers to call a support center — is almost a third larger than the existing headquarters in Springfield’s Gateway area — giving the credit union room to grow. About 150 people will initially be employed there, with the capacity to expand to 300.

The credit union wanted to be part of the revitalization of the downtown Eugene, Iglesias said, but, more importantly, “We wanted to be where businesses can see us.” And, up until now, Northwest Community has not had a presence in downtown Eugene.
