The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce partnered with other local groups to host a live investment show called Salem Sharks.

The event, modeled after the “Shark Tank” television series, was intended to bring out the best in local entrepreneurship. Investors, known as sharks, listened to the pitches of entrepreneurs and considered buying a stake in their businesses.

The four local “sharks” were Rick Day, president and general manager of Advantage Precast; Rich Duncan, president of Rich Duncan Construction; Lance Donnelly, founder of Tan Republic; and Michael Hill, business consultant.
