Washington-based Columbia Land Trust opened a new office across the river in Hood River.
The Columbia Land Trust had modest beginnings, but in the past two decades has grown to manage 24,000 acres in and around the Columbia River Watershed. It has a staff of two dozen people, a multiÂmillion-dollar budget and the support of 1,800 members.
By opening the Hood River office last month, the organization is trying to have a more visible presence in an area that has become a key part of its restoration and conservation efforts.
