Three new electric vehicle chargers are now installed near Oregon’s State Capitol.
The fast-charger and the Level 2 charger will provide juice for cars at parking spaces along State Street. The stations were installed via a partnership among the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 280, Portland General Electric Co., Nissan, the Oregon-Pacific Cascade Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association and ECOtality.
“Building alternative fuel infrastructure gives drivers cleaner-fuel options and creates jobs,” some 1,600 of them, said Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber, in a release. “These latest charging stations are a great step forward on our statewide 10-Year Energy Action Plan and our efforts to build the West Coast Electric Highway.”
