Chances of gun control legislation passing in Oregon are slim after Senate president Peter Courtney said the votes “just aren’t there.”

“I am going to form a work group to see if a bipartisan solution can be reached before the end of session, particularly around the issue of background checks,” Senate President Peter Courtney, D-Salem, said in a statement.

[Sen. Brian Boquist] said at this point the bills appear to be dead.
