Intel and Genentech generated about $382 million in wages that are eligible for a program that shares income taxes with counties that offer businesses property tax abatement.

Gain Share, passed by the state legislature in 2007, is a program in which local jurisdictions waive property taxes for some businesses on capital projects in return for an equal split of state income taxes generated by those investments.

Intel and Genentech reported that abatement helped them to create or save about 15,000 jobs during [2011-2012].
