Hillsboro is one of 20 cities in a Huffington Post contest as part of the $5 million Bloomberg Mayors Challenge that seeks to drive innovation in local government.

Hillsboro is one of the finalists. Its innovative idea is a series of “GoPoint” mobility hubs throughout the city. Residents can use them to connect with alternative forms of transportation, including car pools and bike rentals.

The contest does not have a bearing on the final outcome. But it allows people to view all of the applications and vote on their favorite. And the contest winning city will receive a $50,000 IBM services grant to support their idea, featured coverage and promotion from Huffington Post, a monthly front page column for that city’s mayor for a year, and an interview with Arianna Huffington on Huff Post Live, the website’s video news platform.
