Federal officials visited Beaverton in the first of 100 visits to cities as part of a White House program to support urban revitalization.

Beaverton has ideas for everything from reducing traffic congestion to improving health outcomes and addressing environmental contamination, but its plans require money and support from all levels of government.

And at Thursday’s symposium, city officials were not shy about asking directly.

“We need help to revitalize Beaverton, and we need it from a lot of corners and a lot of folks,” said Don Mazziotti, the city’s community and economic development director.
