DuPont Pioneer plans to expand its Hermiston plant, doubling the capacity of its corn and hybrid seed processing facility.

The state awarded Pioneer a conditional grant of $150,000 from the Governor’s Strategic Reserve Fund to help finance the expansion. The award is contingent upon the company creating 18 new full-time jobs and retaining its existing 34 full-time positions over a two-year period.

The expansion is expected to create 50 local construction jobs, according to a press release from Gov. John Kitzhaber’s office.
