Denver-based Spectrum Retirement Communities plans a 119-unit assisted care facility in Eugene.

The 116,000-square-foot, three-story building on nearly six acres is expected to be completed in summer 2014, said Spectrum’s marketing director Kathleen MacDonald.

The company focused on the Eugene area after a demographic study indicated an under supply of housing for seniors who may also need help with daily living tasks, such as managing their medicines, getting dressed and bathing, MacDonald said.
