Portland’s economy slowed in September, caused in part by steep job losses in Portland and statewide.

The U of O regional indexes show only the Eugene-Springfield economy is expanding faster than normal. Salem, Central Oregon and Rogue Valley economies are growing at a slower than average rate.

Portland’s economic expansion has slowed over the past three months according to the gauge, which tracks housing, employment and travel data.
