Democrats took control of the tied Oregon House and maintained their majority in the Oregon Senate.

Democrats will lead Republicans in the House, 34-26, according to numbers released by the Secretary of State’s office early Wednesday.

“We elected our candidates because we have the right priorities,” said House Democratic Leader Tina Kotek of Portland, who is likely to be the next speaker when Democrats meet to choose their leaders Nov. 15.

Meanwhile, Democrats held on to two Senate seats, one in the Portland suburbs and one on the coast, to keep their 16-14 majority over Republicans.
