Oregon Steel Mills owner Evraz North America plans to reopen a previously shuttered Portland steel mill, hiring 200 workers to make oil and natural gas pipe.

The mill, idled in 2009, will open during the first half of next year once new equipment is installed, the company announced in a news release.

Russian-owned Evraz moved its headquarters from Portland to Chicago two years ago. It employs 500 in Portland.
