Five Oregon credit unions submitted paperwork to be able to accept large deposits from government agencies.

Five more credit unions, including Eugene-based Oregon Community Credit Union, have said they plan to also join the program, State Treasurer Ted Wheeler said Wednesday.

Currently, only banks can accept government deposits that are greater than the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s insured limit, which is now $250,000 per depositor.
