Oregon’s minimum wage will climb 15 cents an hour to $8.95 beginning in January 2013.

With the increase, minimum wage workers in Oregon will earn an annual pay of $18,616, about $500 above the federal poverty level for a family of three in 2011.

Oregon’s minimum pay now ranks $1.70 above the federal minimum level, at $7.25 every hour. The state’s rate is the second highest in the U.S., behind Washington’s $9.04-an-hour pay. Officials there are expected to adjust the pay later this year.
