The Portland metropolitan region’s health care industry expects to add over 17,000 jobs in the next five years.

The Portland metropolitan region’s health care industry expects to add over 17,000 jobs in the next five years.

In all, the region can expect 17,303 jobs over the next five years, on top of the current 114,000 jobs. That is despite recent news of layoffs and other cuts by Legacy Health, Providence Health & Services and other employers.

“There are obviously things that have happened with specific employers, but we still believe that the trend is very much in the positive direction,” said Nick Knudsen of Worksystems, Inc., which helped prepare the report.
