Umpqua Holdings plans to buy Novato, California-based Circle Bancorp for $25 million.

It’s the second acquisition of the year in California for the Portland-based owner of Umpqua Bank. In April, Umpqua said it would buy San Luis Obispo, Calif.-based American Perspective Bank for $45 million.

Umpqua said its board and Circle’s majority shareholder, Shoreline Capital Partners, have approved the latest deal.
