Rivermark Community Credit Union is closing its locations in Clackamas and Newberg as it moves towards a focus on mobile banking.

The Beaverton-based credit union closed its Salem branch in June. The moves come as banks and credit unions face pressures to cut costs amid tighter loan margins and increased competition for loans.

“We believe branches remain vital and we do not plan to become a branchless credit union,” said David Noble, a credit union spokesman. However, nearly two-thirds of its members visited the Clackamas and Newberg branches less than once a month, he said.
