Hillsboro electron microscope company bought Visualization Sciences Group, a French software company, for $55 million.

FEI said that VSG’s software will help the Oregon company provide better imaging services to its customers – especially in FEI’s natural resources and life sciences businesses, key growth markets.

“Our customers are expressing an increasing demand for analysis of the data our imaging systems create,” FEI chief executive Don Kania said in a written statement. “At the same time, FEI intends to continue to build upon VSG’s growing software business.”
