Car2Go is expanding its Portland fleet with 30 electric vehicles.

Car2Go North America LLC, owned by Daimler North America Corporation, launched its Portland point-to-point car-sharing service in late March. The company boasts 6,000 members signed on for the service in its first 100 days.

Collectively Portland members use the Car2Go service more than 4,500 times a week, the average distance driven in a Car2Go vehicle is between three and six miles, and a typical trip lasts from 30 to 45 minutes. Unlike many car-sharing services, Car2Go offers pay-by-the-minute pricing. The service is point-to-point meaning that cars are simply left in neighborhood parking spots and located by the next customer via a smart phone app.
