Nike is increasingly relying on Vietnam for footwear production.

In fiscal year 2012, which ended May 31, contract factories in Vietnam made about 41 percent of Nike brand footwear, up from 39 percent the previous year; China, 32 percent, down from 33 percent; and Indonesia, 25 percent, up from 24 percent.

Those Asian nations accounted for nearly all of the Oregon sports equipment company’s footwear production in the past year, with a small remaining percentage from Argentina, Brazil, India and Mexico. Vietnam surpassed China as the leading producer of Nike footwear two years ago.
