He drew a parallel between open source software, which encourages developers to swap ideas and designs, and Facebook’s Open Compute campaign.
“When you really think about it, is there any value in keeping it a secret?” he asked. “The value of sharing it is clear to me. The value of keeping it a secret is unclear, at best.”
