Worst coverage loss in Oregon


Oregon has suffered more insurance loss for its working-age adults than any other state.

More Oregon adults have lost health insurance coverage due to job loss than in any other state.

The study, from the health consumer organization Families USA, estimates that 84,200 working-age Oregonians lost their health insurance because of unemployment in the first eight months of 2009.

“In terms of percentage increase of loss of coverage due to unemployment, Oregon has literally the worst situation of any of the 50 states,” said Ron Pollack, the executive director of Families USA. “There’s no question the problems around the country are exacerbated and worse in Oregon.”
