TriMet says the Portland-to-Milwaukie light-rail project has created 1,525 jobs so far.

Since the Federal Transit Administration signed off on the 7.3-mile, $1.49 billion project and committed to funding 50 percent of the work, construction has begun along the entire extension from Portland State University to downtown Milwaukie.

During the first year of construction, much of the work has focused on the new transit bridge over the Willamette River in Portland. Sixty-four firms have worked on the bridge, which is 41 percent complete.
