A labor dispute at the Port of Portland that has disrupted shipping traffic in the Pacific Northwest for weeks entered a new phase this week, as the sides started negotiations and the last international container ship likely to visit the city for some time left.
Port officials said discussions were underway between the Port and its Terminal 6 operator on one side and the International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association on the other.
